LOS ANGELES — The Getty Research Institute has announced that Fiona Tan will be the artist in residence for the 2016/2017 Scholar Year, which focuses on the theme of “Art and Anthropology.” Tan is one of 47 scholars who will come to do research at the Getty Center and Getty Villa for the 31st year of the prestigious research program. The research projects selected vary widely and include such topics as Pueblo architecture, luxury objects in Aztec Mexico, Ghanaian art, graffiti, early Islamic print culture and more.
